A teacher must be able to plan and manage instruction based upon knowledge of subject matter, students, and the community, and curriculum goals.
Description of Artifacts
Artifact 1: STEM Unit
This artifact is a STEM lesson that I created, for the STEM course I took in the fall semester of my junior year. It is a 10 day lesson that guides student creativity and problem-solving, to build an art robot. |
Artifact 2: Action Research Intervention Presentation
Artifact 2 is a power-point presentation representing my Action Research project. R.O.A.R. is a fluency intervention that focuses on Repeated Oral Assisted Reading. This artifact displays the theoretical research, intervention method and data reflecting the results of the intervention. |
Analysis
Artifact 1: STEM Unit
This was a fun lesson to put together. I would modify and implement this lesson for grades 1st -5th. The students study energy and create their own artbot. This lesson incorporates science, math, writing, art, engineering and technology. |
Artifact 2: Action Research Intervention Presentation
This presentation represents the necessity to know the students and find an intervention/solution to support their academic needs. Meeting curriculum goals is important for the teacher and the student. Making sure the students are learning what they need to, to be successful means learning the curriculum and state standards. Our students need support in the areas where they do not meet these standards. Using interventions to guide and support students to make sure they are learning the content objectives is vital. |
Synthesis
Artifact 1: STEM Unit
Since I've written this lesson, I would like to pre and post assess the students in their math strategies. I would also like to incorporate music into the lesson and do a formal art lesson with the artbots. There is a lot of room for the students to be creative and problem-solve in this lesson and apply to real-world situations. |
Artifact 2: Action Research Intervention Presentation
When I do this intervention at a later time in my own classroom, I will have two students ROAR with each other and use their own text books to make sure they are reading personally leveled books. I would also like to incorporate the iPad and have them record themselves so they can hear their improvement, not only see it on the graphs. |
